James Gandolfini.

amusememusically

The Sopranos was a huge hit. Rather raw and in your face at times. I loved it. It had such an effect on me that I would walk around town with a cigar, never lit. I hate cigar smell along with other smoke smells. I can be asthmatic too, so that drives me nuts, takes my breath away. Such addictions. I used to smoke, yeah, I think we all did things maybe we should not have, but as a supervisor told me, everything is hindsight and yes it is, believe me. Regrets, things left unsaid, happenings, things we should have done differently, mistakes (but believe you are doing the right thing) - you know what I mean.

Ok, back to James Gandolfini. Aside from family and friend (suicides) and passing- it affected me greatly. I was very much into his acting. I thought he was top notch and grew into the charecter. Just like Kurt Cobain, what would that band sound like to this day, if they kept going. What if he got clean? Would he have survived? I do not believe the conspiracy theories as they are certainly abound on almost every subject today. Politics especially. Drives me nuts. Kurt Cobain's death did shock me as a musician - the 27 club and in bouts of paranoia, I wondered if I would make it through 27.

One other death (celebrity) that had bearing on me was Chris Cornell. I love Soundgarden's music, right up there with Pearl Jam. I was lucky to see Peter Frampton in Watertown Ny, along with Steve Miller Band- who I love- and he covered "Black Hole Sun", It was awesome.

I hardly watch TV as I saw the band Bush's, Gavin Rossdale with a shirt on in my 20's that said "Kill your TV" and it resinated with me. I do watch, sometimes, however rare. Only things I catch passing through (movie, show) or something that instantly catches my interest. I like to collect movies however. (What Happens in Vegas, The Game, Stranger Than Fiction, to name only a few) I love nothing more than spending time with my first love, music and recording. I started out as a drummer and then moved on to other instruments. I am self taught, by ear. Going into Fifth Dimension Records studio in 2017 tweaked my ear even more. After you record and listen back, you hear all the out of tuneness, mistakes and such. You get it right, repeat, or fix. I was very nervous about recording live the first time.

So, here is a tune from Chris Cornell, "live". A cover song I really dig that he did. I am a sucker for slow, mellow love type songs. Like I said. I love a lot of music however, don't be fooled. lol
