The Updated, Older, Newer, Me! (2022)

amusememusically

So here we are again. I've had a long time away from blogging and WIX. I spent the last couple years creating music and a new album. I am super excited and proud to put this new music out there. The album and songs are available on all streaming sites. (Spotify, Youtube, Deezer, Itunes) etc.

This album came together nicely. The recording process I learned on my own. Just like being a self-taught musician, this came with the territory. It was trial and error. With my previous self-recorded music effort, "Karmic Satisfaction," the songs turned out great, but there were some accidents such as original files being lost, deleted and I had to re-record a few songs, sometimes numerous times. That album is more of a "Pop/Rock" effort. That release was a totally different kind of musical flavor from me. I used a lot of keyboard sounds and some pre-recorded drum tracks. Also, drums that came right off my keyboard at home. It was a learning process, that ultimately was preparing me for my next musical release. Songs like, "Out of the Blue," "Exclusive," and "She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not," I felt were perfect for the moment.

"Living Here May Be Hazardous to Your Health," as you can see in the artwork above, is a hard rock/alternative styled album. My daughter Sunsetta, I had asked a couple years ago to make me the art for a new album cover. My concept. It was cute and I kept it. She is now 12. This newest collection of music was recorded over time. It was frustrating at times doing it alone, but well worth it. When I say, doing it alone, what I mean is trying to get a good sound on the mixer(s) from the drums especially, and good EQ levels. I had to go room to room, back and forth, check the sound in the headphones and go adjust accordingly, and it took a lot of attempts to get a sound I could be happy with. Also, I used 3 different mixers for this release. One mixer I purchased during this creative time period, actually went up in smoke. It didn't catch fire, but it was defective and I was upstairs when the smoking started. My music instruments, recording computer, microphones, amps, guitars, drums etc. are all down in the "Mancave". My basement area. If you have a good listen to the album you can hear the different mixer sounds, especially on the drum tracks.

As I understand it, everything in life is "hindsight." As artists we tend to get stuck in our own painting, art. We can pick out every damn flaw possible and be so self-critical. The reality of it is that most people listening are hearing something totally different and not even noticing what the creator notices about their own art, where they feel some things could have been done better, or tweaked to another level.

All in all, I can sit back on this release and be very proud and happy. "Living Here May Be Hazardous to Your Health," has 13 songs. While I was tweaking and recording parts, there were 20 other songs written and recorded, over the last few years. Maybe they could use some last tweaking, before releasing. At this time, I had an almost daily, massive creative burst. I wrote a lot of songs. I have in my mind, more album titles, for releases in the future. All in all, I ended up using the songs I felt would go together for this album. I picked 13 songs out of the many files of music. Some were newer recordings, some were older recordings. Please check my MUSIC out. Check out this release! I appreciate your interest and time! Ear Candy! TAKE CARE. Dream big! DREAM BIGGER!!

This song, also the album title, the vocal style used was influenced by Dave Mustaine of Megadeth. I didn't set out to do this, it just happened to be similar enough that I made that realization later. I do like Megadeth's music as well. The singing is very different on this track, than the rest. The song is used as an intro to the album. It has a hard rock/heavier type sound. I re-recorded the drums at least twice. I was also told that the song's music is in the mold of a "Dio" song. I had heard of Dio, but I never had heard his music or recordings. After the recording was done and I had some listeners, one person pointed that out. I looked into that thought and the song they were referring to is called, "Rainbow in the Dark". Actually, I'm so out of the loop with Dio's music, I just looked it up on Youtube. This is my second time listening to the song. I can't complain. This is a definite compliment. TAKE CARE ALL! ~ Until Next Time! - Bill!!!
