I miss the 90's. (and the music)

amusememusically

I first heard this tune, by Mazzy Star in college in the late 90's. I then heard another tune on a Soprano's episode by her. "Look on Down from the Bridge". I am in love with her music. Of course, being a teen, I did all the wrong things in college the first time around, which led to a lot of problems. I wasn't ready. Later - I went back to school in my 30's and on and am doing well. I am on National Leadership Society. (I went to Suny Canton first, Jefferson Community College) later. I am heading in a "Chemical Dependency" field and currently work in a Halfway House. Sometimes I really wish it was called "Give Me a Break House" OR "The Hope House" Currently, besides music hopes, work with people with addictions. College it at a standstill however, at the moment.

Oh Yeah, I miss the 90's. I miss exploring and finding Pearl Jam. (Yellow Led Better) - a girl, woman in college turned me on to that song. Love it. After, I watched the "Jeremy" video and that tune, because of my history (childhood- teens) the video puts a lump in my throat. That song is real and intense to me. I still follow Pearl Jam and they are still going. I am so influenced by them as well. Aerosmith is another. They are more like 70's, 80's, 90's, 00's and on. They had a huge impact on me. Their lifestyle, their creativity. Their longevity. Their story. Another, is Alanis Morissette. My significant of 15 years and on used to perform a song of hers called "You Owe Me Nothing In Return," in our living room with the kids when they were younger. Kim actually used to sing it, the kids played drums on boxes etc. and I played guitar. Kim became frustrated with guitar playing, as I was trying to teach her because her son, young at the time, told her she wasn't good at it. I tried to persuade her to keep plugging away, but that did it for that. Unfortunately. Ultimately, I did teach her son guitar and gave him (Joel) a guitar for graduating from school. (K-12). It was an electric guitar we actually won at an auction. We only set our price at 75 dollars and we won the guitar. It was a great moment. So, I gave it to him in the long run. He is quite a performer and loves college, his girl and is thriving. This brings me to hopes he makes the right decisions. His parents did go through a divorce and such, but he has had a level head. More than I did at his age. He knows what he wants and is going for it. I was busy living in my head too much. Not all my fault, considering the childhood I had, living with my grandparents as well later, and choices I ultimately made too, trying to self medicate and have extra (I thought) creativity. In the end it stifiles it. I am not judgmental. People will live and learn however they do and choose. When I hit rock bottom, it still felt like the hole was deeper.- no end to it. I had a lot to spring back from and I am better for it. I might have been non existent at this point. It is a double edged sword at times. LONG LIVE MUSIC THERAPY and music that has kept being my guardian and alive through relating to it and writing.
